using the driverack pa w/ mackie srm450

Hi,
I am using 2 mackie srm450 active speakers and a mackie cfx 16 board. I bought the driverack to use primarily in my rehearsal studio. The room is about 20 feet wide by 30 feet long with a 9 ft ceiling. Having said that I can't figure out what speakers to select , custom biamp or custom passive? ( it would make no sense to select custom passive becauase the speakers are active, right?) Also, what should my graphic eq setting be, stereo linked or dual mono?
I have more questions about the graphic eq step ( can I eq without using the external mic?) but I am taking it slow, trying to get past this first step.
Thanks for your help

Remember that when manufactureres are referring to their speakers as "active" they are referring to the power amp, not the crossover. If it has a crossover built in then it is a passive system.

Yes you can EQ without the measurement mic, you just can's use the AUTO-EQ.

Dan,
I too use the DRPA with SRM450's with great success. To set the system up, go went into the Setup Wizard and choose the Mackie C300 for the Highs, then choose NO Sub. The C300 is the passive equivalent of the SRM450. For an amp, choose Custom.

Next take the High L & R and connect them to your SRM450's.

That's about all there is to the setup. Pretty simple.

As mentioned before, you can use the EQ but you'll need an RTA mic to use the Auto EQ.

Are you sure you plug the Mackie srm450s into the HI outputs? Why not MID?

Marty,
If you look at the 2X3 and 2X4 configurations you will see they utilize the "HI" outs for the "tops"and the "Left, mono", sub outs for the lows (or both lows for stereo subs) its all in the manual. If you look at the 2X2 setup you use the HI outs only! In the 260 you can send any input to any output and put all or part of the audio spectrum into each output...in any order. The DRPA however, has specific setups it uses. see the manual, it makes setup much easier... but you need to consider the "whole" manual before you start doing your setup. MOST of what you need is in there, the rest, can be found here...

Be well

I just bought the Mackie 1501 powered subwoofer and will add it to my system. I will be using one (mono) sub.
Should I hook it up to the DRPA low/mono or run one 450 out of the high pass of the sub as it would be matched for crossover.

Hi
If you use the Driverack you can control the sub anywhere below the XOVER point they specify. I think thats 120 hz isn't it.

The sub sets the xover point the tops get, so use the DR for both tops and subs and you have much more control over your subs, and tops. P.S. too bad you got the mackie, the Yorkville powered subs have more power sound better and are cheaper.
